Road accidents account for 242 deaths during Eid holidays in Bangladesh: Reports
Dhaka, August 13: At least 242 people were killed in road accidents during Eid Holidays, authorities in Bangladesh said.
The figures were made public during a press conference in Dhaka on Sunday by Jatri Kalyan Samity.
According to the 'Road Accident Report-2020', the fatalities were recorded during 201 road accidents, which left 331 others injured.
Md Mojammel Haque Chowdhury, general secretary of the samity, said that the accident rate didn't decrease even when vehicular movement was less than usual, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The report said 317 people died in accidents, including rail and waterways, while the number of injured rose to 370 and accidents to 238, respectively.
The report was compiled by members of the Road Accident Monitoring Cell.
